Let Me Catch You Up (2015 Highlights)
4/04/2016
Hello, Blogettes!
I love how I've stayed true to the fact that this blog would be so sporadic and would not have consistent postings (reread that with a hint of sarcasm in the tone). As I had mentioned in my first post, I have always had a like for blogging but am terrible at being consistent. To be honest, it's mostly because I don't know what to write about! I feel like I live a pretty boring day-to-day life and don't have much to share. You know what though? I want to challenge myself to change that conception. Doing the same thing day and day out is LAME and unchallenging. I feel like a lot has changed since my last post yet nothing has changed at the same time. Weird, right? When you reflect back, you see how much time has past but then at the same time you're like, how has it already been a year?
This post is a challenge to myself to start documenting more of my life and just doing more fun things in general. Not everything will be posted, but you may see more if I find myself doing more fun things. I think part of me has gotten inspired a little bit because of how I dread my current job, but mostly because one of my best friends, Lara, is currently studying abroad in Italy right now and has been traveling everywhere. I wake up to Snapchats of her in different places every morning. It's a lovely treat, tbh. I'm so happy for her to be able to see all these places and as such, I am living vicariously through her. Check out her blog to see the beautiful places she's been to: WanderingLarz.
To catch you all up, let me give you some highlights of what you've missed since February 5th, 2015 (aka the last time I posted something lol)...
1) I graduated university! I finished my BSW at UVic and had my convocation in June 2015.
2) I am currently completing my HR certificate part-time while I work full-time as a First Assistant at McDonald's.
3) I am still at McDonald's even though I've graduated. I had the opportunity post-graduation to move up in management and I so I did. I was promoted twice last year. It was a fun and challenging time, but I've definitely been looking for new opportunities.
4) VEGASSSS. Yes, that happened. There was lots of drinking, dancing, and fun. There was also a misfortunate event that tainted my trip, which was when I got pickpocketed and had my brand new iPhone 6 stolen. I was the most upset that I lost a majority of my pictures. Bright side: I got to be in the same room as Britney Spears! Tbh, her performance wasn't great (lip syncing) 'cos her heart wasn't in it but still... It's Britney, Bitch.
5) I went to Penticton last summer on an impromptu trip. I was SO proud of myself. My friends had planned to go already (I was not a part of the group), but I also happened to have the same weekend off and was invited. I was hesitant because I felt I was intruding but then decided "eff it!" and was spontaneous. Yes, spontaneous. For those who know me, I am not the spontaneous type. This is why I was proud that I went on a trip because frankly, I deserved it.
6) I saw Once The Musical! Broadway shows are my <3. I'm going to see Mamma Mia! next week. I cannot contain my excitement!
7) I went to see The Nutcracker (presented by The Goh) for the first time!
8) Christmas with my famjam. There was lots of homemade sangria involved and it drunkingly delicious ;)
I think that's all for now... Goal is to have you guys hear from me shortly! If you would like to suggest things you would like to hear from me, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know!
'til next time,
Jen
