OOTD: Practicum Interview

2/25/2014

Hello!

This is my first OOTD post on this blog. How fun! But before I jump into that, let me fill you in on the deets:

I received an email this morning regarding a practicum placement I applied for at Atira Women's Resource Society. The coordinator wanted to meet me to discuss me doing a practicum there this upcoming semester, so I decided I should just meet her today (versus waiting until next Tuesday). I'm a planner so I like knowing things and now I know when I'll be starting and what I'll be doing. It's exciting. Oh, in case it wasn't clear, I got the job :) YAY!

I'll be starting my practicum early because she was looking for a student to begin in April since that's when the programs they'll be running are starting up. I believe my practicum will be from mid-April to mid-July, which is perfect because then I'll have less overlap between my summer courses and my practicum. After it ends, I can either fill the time with work or just relax a bit with what's left of my summer - who knows? I haven't decided yet.

Moving on the actual ootd part, let me tell you, I scrambled trying to decide what to wear. I wasn't sure the job was already in the bag and I was just meeting her to go over things, or whether this was an actual interview.

(One of these days, I might take photos that aren't from my phone... Lol, I laughed in my head 'cos even I know that's not likely. Essentially what I'm saying is sorry for the quality. If I make it a chore to always have high quality photos, the blog will start to fail. I know that for a fact).

Say hello to my little doggybear in the background!
Outfit:
- Top: H&M (the shirt underneath is just a black undershirt)
- Cardigan: Urban Behaviour
- Skirt: Sirens (from like, my sweet 16. I'm surprised I still fit it)
- Belt: came from some dress I bought at Sirens
- Necklace: Forever21
- Shoes: The Shoe Warehouse

As I said, I wasn't quite sure how to dress so I decided to go with dressy (I mean, it's better to be overdressed than underdressed), but toned it down a bit with a cardigan as opposed to a blazer. My gut told me to go with a cardigan so I went with it. My gut also told me to change into the black flats I brought with me at the last minute and both were a good call. They dress super casual there.

Makeup:
- UD Primer Potion
- Shadow: MAC Vanilla, UD Naked Sin & Buck
- Stila Stay All Day Waterproof eyeliner
- L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara
- Brows: NYX mysterious brown eyes palette (matte brown colour)
- MAC Matchmaster foundation
- ELF bronzer and blush duo (just the bronzer part)
- CARGO contour palette (highlight)
- Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent powder
- MAC Fun & Games blush (Hello Kitty Collection - I know. It's old)
- Tarte Lip Tint

I retook the bottom photos after I got back home so the lip colour is a little faded. The bottom lip is more accurate to the colour. The top faded a bit. Smeh. This is like my go to basic eye makeup look. It's easy because I know exactly what to do. The only difference is I took a pixiwoo trick and added a bit of the bronzer into my crease. I also used a clear mascara as a brow gel too. I can't remember the name of the product and I'm not a big fan of it to begin with, so I'm not going to run upstairs and check the name. Not worth it, haha.

Anyways, I love this business-casual look. It's not often that I wear this type of outfit. I mean, that belt around the waist with this skirt.. Ugh, I love it! I kind of wish the agency was a little more business-attire, but they dress more casually for a reason. It's to create a more inclusive environment when around clients. I can respect that.

Guess that's it for now. If you like these types of posts, let me know (you can like and/or comment) :)
